Honor's New AI Agent

Honor has unveiled its new UI Agent, a GUI-based mobile AI agent that can handle tasks on behalf of users by understanding the screen's graphical user interface. The agent is powered by Google's Gemini 2 model and can learn user preferences over time.

In a demo, the UI Agent was able to book a table at a restaurant through OpenTable, taking into account the user's location and preferences. However, the agent was unable to complete the process as it required a credit card to confirm the reservation.

How it Works

The UI Agent uses a self-reliant AI execution model that can understand the semantic elements of the user interface and follow through with a multi-step process to execute user requests. This approach is more cost-effective than relying on external APIs, according to Honor.

The agent can also learn user preferences over time, allowing it to make personalized recommendations. For example, if a user tends to order certain types of food through a delivery app, the agent can use that context to suggest similar options in the future.

Partnerships and Future Plans

Honor has partnered with Qualcomm to keep user data on the device and develop a personal knowledge base that learns user preferences over time. The company has also announced its $10 billion Honor Alpha Plan, which aims to create an intelligent phone and open up human potential boundaries.

Honor has also announced that it will deliver seven years of software updates for its flagship Magic 7 Pro and upcoming devices, matching the software update policies of Google and Samsung.
