XTRIS is a fast-paced arcade-style game developed by Fletch Makes Stuff for the Playdate console. The game's objective is simple: chase a moving X around a grid made up of four, five, or six tiles and land on it as many times as possible within a 60-second time limit.
The game starts off easy but quickly becomes intense, with the X moving faster and the music building up like an alarm. The classic arcade announcer voice, voiced by Jordan Carroll, shouts words of encouragement that can feel ominous towards the end of the game.
Gameplay and Features
XTRIS features three levels: Tetromino, Bridge, and Squiggle. Players can compare their scores with others on the leaderboards, and after playing a level a few times, they can view their score trends to see how they're improving.
In addition to the main game mode, XTRIS also has a Zen Mode for each level, where players can practice their dexterity without the time pressure. The game also includes unlockable characters and symbols that can be used to change the appearance of the game.
