Xiaomi's Modular Optical System
Xiaomi has unveiled a new concept phone with a detachable lens that connects magnetically and transfers power and data. The lens is a 35-mm f/1.4 lens with a 100-megapixel Light Fusion X Type 4/3 sensor, which is larger than any lens found in a phone today.
The Modular Optical System uses Xiaomi's proprietary LaserLink technology, which enables data transfer at speeds of up to 10 Gbps. This technology allows for a range of specialist lenses for photographers and could also enable other magnetic accessories such as chargers and power banks.
Xiaomi 15 Ultra
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is a flagship phone with a focus on photography. It features a massive 6,000 mAh battery, a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, and a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
The phone has a quad-camera setup with a 23mm equivalent main camera, an f/2.2 50-MP ultrawide cam, a 50MP midrange shooter, and a 200MP periscope array. It also comes with a Photography kit that includes an add-on camera grip, a case that allows attachment of a standard 67mm filter adapter, and other accessories.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be available globally starting at around €1,499, but there are no official plans to bring it to the US.
