Xbox's AI-Powered Gaming Companion

Xbox has unveiled a new AI-powered gaming companion called Copilot for Gaming, which is powered by Microsoft's AI technology. This voice-activated assistant is designed to enhance the gaming experience by providing real-time tips, completing tasks, and even criticizing the player's performance if needed.

Copilot for Gaming can provide suggestions for character selection in games like Overwatch, taking into account the player's past selections and the strengths of each character. It can also advise on the next move to win a fight and offer tips for improvement in future encounters.

Xbox has partnered with game studios to ensure the accuracy of the AI's responses, which can also notify players when their friends are online and ask if they want to join a game together. If friends are offline, the Copilot can serve as a companion that adapts to the player's gameplay style.

Other features of Copilot for Gaming include reminding players what happened during their last gaming session, installing games, and recommending new titles based on their preferences. Currently, the feature is only available through the Xbox mobile app and appears as a second screen while playing a game.

Xbox plans to improve Copilot for Gaming based on user feedback, and other companies like Google and Sony are also exploring AI agents for video games. Google DeepMind researchers have developed a game-playing companion called SIMA, and Sony is reportedly working on an AI-powered version of Aloy, a character from the video game Horizon Forbidden West.
