HCRG Care Group, one of the largest independent providers of community health and care services in the UK, has confirmed it is investigating a cybersecurity incident. The Medusa ransomware gang has claimed responsibility for the breach, stating that it has stolen over two terabytes of data, including employee personal information, sensitive medical records, financial records, and government identification documents. The company has informed the UK's Information Commissioner's Office and other regulators about the breach and is working with external forensic specialists to investigate the incident. HCRG has more than 5,000 employees and delivers healthcare services to half a million patients across the UK. The Medusa ransomware gang is threatening to publish the allegedly stolen data unless HCRG pays a ransom demand of $2 million.
