Uber is changing its business model for three-wheeled motorized rickshaw drivers in India. Instead of charging a commission on each ride, the company will now charge drivers a daily fee to use its platform. This move is in response to increased competition from local rivals such as Rapido and Namma Yatri, which operate on a subscription-based model. The daily fee for auto-rickshaw drivers in India will range from $0.23 to $0.46, depending on the city. Riders will pay the driver directly, either in cash or through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), and Uber will not charge any cancellation fees.
