Introduction to Generative AI Video Lenses
Snapchat has launched a new feature that enables users to create interactive and immersive experiences using generative AI video Lenses. This innovation allows users to watch themselves cuddling with virtual animals or holding virtual objects, taking the app's augmented reality capabilities to the next level.
The first three Lenses released by the app include the Racoon, Fox, and Spring Flowers. These Lenses use a generative video model built in-house by Snap to bring the virtual elements to life. The company plans to add more Lenses every week, expanding the creative possibilities for its users.
Availability and Functionality
For now, the new AI video Lenses are exclusively available to users who subscribe to the $16-per-month Snapchat Platinum tier. Subscribers will find these Lenses in the carousel, and they can be used with both front and rear cameras. Any AI video created can be automatically saved to Memories and shared with friends, posted to Stories, or submitted to Spotlight.
This move is part of Snap's ongoing effort to integrate advanced technologies like AR, ML, and AI into its platform, providing users with unique and engaging experiences. The introduction of an OpenAI-powered chatbot in 2023 and an AI video-generation tool for creators last year demonstrates the company's commitment to innovation and user satisfaction.
