Mark Zuckerberg's Charity Ends DEI Efforts

- The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative has ended its DEI programs and efforts
- The organization will no longer provide social advocacy funding
- The Science Diversity Leadership Awards have been canceled
- The Diverse Slate Practice has been ended
- CZI will focus on issuing grants for biology and AI
The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI), co-founded by Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan, has ended its internal DEI programs and will no longer provide social advocacy funding, which previously provided grants for racial equity and immigration reforms. The organization has also canceled its Science Diversity Leadership Awards and ended its Diverse Slate Practice. This decision is a reversal of the charity's previous commitment to DEI efforts, and comes after Meta announced the elimination of its own DEI programs. The change is intended to help CZI align with its focus as a science philanthropy, according to an email from the organization's COO, Marc Malandro.
