The organization has also canceled its Science Diversity Leadership Awards and ended its Diverse Slate Practice. This decision is a reversal of the charity's previous commitment to DEI efforts, and comes after Meta announced the elimination of its own DEI programs. The change is intended to help CZI align with its focus as a science philanthropy, according to an email from the organization's COO, Marc Malandro.
