Introduction to Longbow
Longbow, a newly established British brand, has unveiled its first creations, the Roadster and Speedster, two electric sports cars that embody the tradition of lightweight British sports cars. These 'Featherweight Electric Vehicles' (FEV) are designed to simplify the driving experience, focusing on driver engagement and minimal weight.
The Roadster and Speedster are spiritual successors to iconic models like the Lotus Elise and Jaguar E-Type, and are engineered to provide an immediate and immersive driving experience. The cars sit on a bespoke aluminium chassis, engineered for minimal weight and maximum stiffness, and feature electric powertrains with 'lighter and more compact' e-motors and batteries.
Specifications and Pricing
The Longbow Speedster will arrive first, with a 0-62mph time of 3.5 seconds, a range of up to 275 miles, and a weight of 875kg. Prices start from £84,995. The Longbow Roadster will follow, weighing 995kg and hitting 62mph in 3.6 seconds, with a price starting from £64,995, making it lighter, quicker, and less expensive than an Alpine A110 R.
Only 150 examples of each model will be produced, and reservations are now open, with the first cars expected to arrive on customers' driveways next year.
Founders and Expertise
Longbow was founded in 2023 by Daniel Davey, Jenny Keisu, and Mark Tapscott, who bring expertise from the automotive industry, technology, and finance sector. Davey and Tapscott were involved in developing the original Tesla Roadster and have held senior positions at Lucid Motors and BYD, while Keisu was previously CEO of electric speedboat manufacturer X Shore.
All of Longbow's cars will be designed, engineered, and hand-built in the UK, with the engineering team drawing on experience from working at Lotus, Aston Martin, Ariel, and in Formula E.
