Jeep to Build New Compass in Italy Despite Tariffs

- The new Compass will be built in Italy despite tariffs
- The next-generation Compass will debut this spring
- The Compass will have a new design with sharper edges and a bulky body
- The vehicle will feature a rectangular seven-bar Jeep grille with long, hexagonal LED lights
- European production will begin this year, but the North American release may be delayed
Introduction of the New Compass
The Compass is a critical vehicle for Jeep, with 111,697 units sold last year. The entry-level Compass could be even more important than ever due to possible higher vehicle pricing caused by tariffs.
Jeep's latest teaser for the next-generation Compass shows a new design with sharper edges and a bulky body. The Compass will ditch its rounded hood and kinked C-pillar glass for a squared face and a beltline running largely straight, front-to-back.
Design and Features
The new Compass will have a rectangular seven-bar Jeep grille with long, hexagonal LED lights spanning its entire width. The grille looks vertical, flanked by sharply rectangular headlights. The taillights will also feature rectangles and pointed shapes, with an emphasis on the Compass lighting setup.
The next-generation Compass will debut this spring, earlier than initially planned. European production will begin this year, and the Compass will be made in Italy. However, the version seen in the spring may not reach North America right away due to controversy surrounding tariffs.
