The March Pixel feature drop update is rolling out to Google Pixel phones and Watch devices, introducing a range of new features and improvements. One of the headlining features is AI-powered scam protection, which uses on-device AI to alert users in real-time if the person they're calling or texting is using language common among scammers.
Pixel 9 phones in the US will have access to call protection, while Pixel 6 and newer phones will have scam text detection available in the US, Canada, and the UK. Additionally, the Find My Device app is getting a new live location-sharing tool, allowing users to easily share their location with friends and family.
Pixel Studio Updates
Pixel Studio, an AI image app exclusive to Pixel devices, is now capable of creating stickers and images of people. Users can type a description of a person or scene they'd like to see, or choose a style like 'video game' or '3D cartoon'.
Other features included in the update are a new multi-cam feature for streaming video from multiple angles, and improved step tracking precision for Pixel Watch devices. The Pixel Watch 3 is also getting a new feature called Loss of Pulse Detection, which can detect when a user experiences a loss of pulse and automatically contact emergency services.
On-device menstrual tracking is also being introduced for the Pixel Watch 3, allowing users to monitor their period and predict when their next one might be. The update is starting to roll out today, but may take a few days to become available for all devices.
