Introduction of Live Video and Screensharing

At the Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, Google previewed two new AI features for Android devices: Live Video and screensharing. These features, part of Gemini, utilize multi-modal capabilities to enhance user interaction.

The Live Video feature allows users to show Gemini what their phone's camera sees, enabling the chatbot to provide more accurate and relevant responses. For instance, if a user is looking at a piece of mid-century modern decor, Gemini can offer suggestions on how to apply that style to pottery.

The screensharing feature works similarly to other screensharing tools, allowing users to share their screen with Gemini to ask questions about what they see on a website or app.

Availability and Subscription

These new features will begin rolling out to Gemini Advanced subscribers later this month. Gemini Advanced is included in Google's $20 per month Google One AI Premium plan. Additionally, Verizon customers may have access to this subscription as a perk with certain plans.

While these features may not be groundbreaking, as similar capabilities are already available in ChatGPT's Advanced Voice Mode, the convenience of having them integrated directly into Gemini without the need for a separate app is a notable advantage.
