FJ Chalke has announced the retirement of James Chalke, its chairman, after almost five decades with the company. James Chalke's son, George Chalke, will step into the role of chairman, marking the fourth generation of the Chalke family to lead the business.
FJ Chalke represents several major automotive brands, including Abarth, Fiat, Jeep, Kia, MG, Nissan, and Suzuki, as well as Maxus vans and trucks and Isuzu trucks. The dealer group has outlets in Mere, Wincanton, Yeovil, and Gillingham, and is ranked 164 in the last published Motor Trader Top 200 Dealer Groups with an annual turnover of £59.5m.
James Chalke expressed his gratitude for the rewarding journey he experienced over the years, reflecting on the challenges and successes that have shaped the company. He stated that he is pleased to leave the business in good hands, with his son George taking over as chairman and Steve Fowler continuing as managing director.
