Introduction to Alpine's New Model
Alpine, the French performance brand, is gearing up to launch its next car, an electric crossover. Although the company doesn't explicitly call it a crossover, the vehicle's design and features suggest it will compete in this segment. The official debut is scheduled for May 27, but Alpine has provided a sneak peek by testing the car in Finland.
The new model retains much of the styling from the A390_β Concept, including a sharp, angular face with thin headlights and a hood blade that directs airflow over the windshield. The rear features a sloping roof, a small spoiler, and full-width taillights. While the cabin is not fully revealed, the steering wheel boasts Formula 1-inspired touches, such as a dedicated overtake button and a recharge button. There's also a selector for the five drive modes, which will include a Track mode.
Performance and Specifications
Although specific performance metrics are not disclosed, Alpine confirms the car will be equipped with three electric motors and torque vectoring. This suggests the vehicle won't lack power or agility. The dimensions are similar to those of the Ford Escape, measuring 181.69 inches long, 60.31 inches tall, and 74.21 inches wide, but about six inches shorter.
This upcoming crossover is Alpine's third vehicle, following the A110 and A290. Notably, the brand will close the order books for the latter two models early next year. However, Alpine is working on an all-electric successor to the A110, though the release date is not yet announced.
