Introduction to the 2025 Oscars

The 97th Academy Awards ceremony was held on March 2, 2025, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. The event was hosted by Conan O'Brien and featured a range of movies, from crowd-pleasing blockbusters to niche, critical darlings.

The ceremony was streamed live through the Hulu app, as well as on the ABC broadcast channel. Viewers could also watch the event through cable or an over-the-air antenna. Additionally, a live stream with American Sign Language interpreters was available on YouTube.

Streaming Issues with Hulu

However, Hulu subscribers experienced technical difficulties during the stream, with some users being kicked out of the stream before the final awards were announced. The issue was attributed to a scheduling error, which set the stream to end at 10:32 PM ET, before the ceremony had concluded.

Disney, the owner of Hulu, apologized for the issue and promised to make a full replay of the event available as soon as possible. The incident was reminiscent of a similar issue during Super Bowl LII in 2018, when Hulu's live broadcast ended prematurely in some markets.

Winners and Nominees

The 2025 Oscars featured a range of winners, including those for Best Picture, Best Actress, and other categories. Some of the nominated movies were available to stream at home, including Emilia Pérez on Netflix, Conclave on Peacock, and Dune: Part Two on Max and Netflix.
